A Lazy Day to Top Off a Grand Gala

Every great celebration deserves a restorative sleep. So blessed to be in a magical Kingdom!

Steve:

On Sunday, we got up really late. We went across the square to the Cafe de Paris and just made it in time to still get breakfast. Then we walked off our stiffness and sleepy eyes. It was a beautiful day in Monte Carlo. As always, the super luxurious cars were everywhere. I love the sound of strong motors any time of day.

Dawn:

Every city seems to have a particular vibe. Monte Carlo has a laid back, not a care in the world feel to it. It is easy to relax here. And after all the restrictions we’ve faced over the past several years, this taste of easy being is more than welcome.

Steve:

This city is pristine, too. Not a cigarette butt or piece of trash anywhere. Nor any graffiti! Really unusual for any European country.

Dawn:

After a little designer window shopping, we headed back to the room. I worked on our blog while Steve snoozed.

Steve:

I woke up in time for Housekeeping to bring up more coffee, then we had Dawn’s cake delivered. It was superb!

Mom’s birthday is fun!

Dad says, “Life is good in Monaco.” Mmmmm. So is the cake!

Dawn:

I got some packing sorted while Steve had a small stogie on our terrace. We’ll probably just rest up and head back to the bar to listen to more music later this evening.

Live music is beguiling. The House Band was very entertaining. We enjoyed their repertoire of early ‘60s thru the ‘80s hits.

Travel day!

Steve:

Before we checked out, we decided to have some breakfast. Arfy wanted to come, too. He was the hit of the waitstaff.

Dawn:

The Maitre’d even brought Arfy a bowl of water!  In a profound moment of synchronicity our wedding song, We’ve Only Just Begun, came on the musak.

(Does that make us officialy old?)

Steve:

Before we left I wanted to get some pictures of Rolland in front of the finest hotel in Monte Carlo.

Steve:

I also wanted to drive a bit of the Grand Prix track. Here’s a video.

Steve:

… or not. We seem to have run into a technical error here on the road. We will post the video when we can.

Instead, here’s more cars …
